The aim of the study was to investigate the relationships between the prevalence of coronary artery disease (CAD) andattitude towards one’s own health and prevention in Siberian male population aged 25–64 years. The study was conductedwith the use of a representative sample formed by the list of male patients aged 25–64 years in one of the Tyumenadministrative districts. The prevalence of CAD as well as attitude towards one’s own health and prevention were examinedin the cardiovascular screening study using the standard WHOMONICA"psychosocialsurvey. The open male populationof Tyumen aged 25–64 years showed the increasing tendency of subjects to give negative assessment of possibility forprevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, more serious attitude towards one’s own healthwas observed in patients with CAD. Male patients with established CAD diagnoses were found to be more responsible fortheir own health; they also more often denied the possibility for successful CVD treatment (4.2%) and prevention (5.6%).
