The relationship of temperament and behavior strategies in conflict among medical students

The article analyzes the relationship between the type of temperament and styles of behavior in conflict situations among students of a medical university. In the course of the research, the following methods were applied: 1) Ayzenk Personality Inventory (EPI) adapted by A.G. Shmelev; 2) Thomas – Kilmann test adapted by N.V. Grishina. The article analyzes the concepts of “conflict”, “strategy of behavior in a conflict”. The psychological factors influencing the choice of behavior strategies in conflict situations have been analyzed. In the study, we suggested that the choice of behavior strategies in conflict is influenced by the characteristics of the type of temperament. The study revealed that students have a different combination of strategies of behavior in conflict for all types of temperament. For most students, the type of temperament is sanguine. Medical students prefer a constructive strategy of behavior in a conflict – a compromise, which may be characterized by a particular profession. These results can be used in activities of psychologists in educational institutions.
