An activity-based approach to everyday life, based on the principles of structural analysis, is presented. Daily life is structured by a system of interrelated activities (practices) that fulfill the needs and opportunities of the individual, providing desired levels of consumption and leisure through available areas of work and life. Using statistics and tools of time budgets, a comparative analysis of labor practices of the rural and urban population of working age was carried out. The spread of part-time employment in the village and the importance of self-sufficiency practices, which are characterized by a high duration on weekends, which reduces the time for physical recovery and leisure, are shown. The alternativeness of official and informal agricultural employment has been established. Commercial agricultural production on the basis of private subsidiary plots cannot currently be considered a widespread type of employment for the rural population; its ability to financially support a rural family is limited. The support of small and family businesses in rural areas, both agricultural and non-agricultural, especially those associated with the service sector is relevant.
