Why it is necessary to know the bases of visual literacy by pupils?

This article shows the necessity of teaching in a secondary school the foundations of visual literacy. The effective studying of fine arts, decorative and applied arts and folk arts in the system of subjects of art and aesthetic cycle contributes to understanding the relationship between the arts and activates the theoretical knowledge of pupils in the creative work related to different kinds of arts.
