Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur: commander, politician, poet

The name of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur in the history of Uzbekistan stands on a par with such figures of politics and military affairs as Jaladdin Manguberdy, Amir Timur, Ulugbek, Alisher Navoi. The Timurid prince, who created the Baburid empire in India (in the Western sources "The Empire of the Great Moguls"), was a dedicated son of his Motherland and fought for her wellbeing until the end of his days.

Babur was born in the family of the Timurid prince Umarsheikh, ruler of the Fergana region in 1483. At the age of 12, as a result of his father's tragic death, he becomes a new ruler and enters into a fierce struggle for power in Maverannahr. During 1494-1496, while still a teenager, he participates in battles for Samarkand and first meets on the battlefield with his strongest enemy - Sheibanikhan, who had a great influence on the future fate of Babur.

Most of his life Babur spent in military campaigns and battles. He unsuccessfully tried to unite the disparate regions of Maverannahr and create a new great state of the Timurids. His dreams were destined to be realized in India, where he went with his troops in 1526. Babur managed to create a foundation for the Empire of the Great Mongols in India, which lasted about 300 years. His ideas preached the establishment of harmony among peoples, as well as the introduction of education in all sectors of the population.

Along with his military and political activities, Beaubourg was a great poet, whose rubies (lyric quatrains) delight and inspire many people today. His pen belongs to one of the most famous oriental works in the world literature "Babur-name".

"Baburnama" are personal diaries of Babur, which he conducted throughout his life, collected in a single work by Babur himself. "Babur-name" is not only a description of the author's personal life, but also a valuable source for studying the history, culture, way of life of peoples, flora and fauna of the areas visited by Bobur.

Babur was one of the greatest people of his time. Having created one of the most powerful empires in the history of the East, he nevertheless remained in his heart a fiery patriot of his homeland and sought to establish diplomatic and friendly ties with his native city of Andijan until the end of his days.

Today Andijan people proudly pronounce the name of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur and honor his memory. In the city there is a monument to Babur, as well as the House of Babur, preserved until our time.
