Regularities of crimes under Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation as a subject of criminological research

The regularities of crimes under Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation as well as specific features of their commission and determination are examined in the article. The author provides examples of law enforcement practices to counter this negative phenomenon and comes to the conclusions that these regularities can be considered as an independent subject of research, as they can significantly determine other offences against health of population which are related to illegal drug use. A detailed study of these regularities will improve the effectiveness of measures to combat drug-related crimes. In this regard, it is also necessary to harmonize the criminal legislation of all countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization for further improving and enhancing the effectiveness of its efforts to counter the drug threat.
