The article explores theolinguistics, a nascent yet rapidly evolving interdisciplinary field grounded in the fundamental knowledge of linguistics, theology, philosophy, and religious anthropology. The emergence and vigorous development of theolinguistics, both in Russia and internationally, are driven by the imperative to address a number of theoretical and practical challenges encountered by contemporary scholars in examining the interplay between language and religion. These challenges encompass defining the scope and conceptual-terminological framework of theolinguistics; understanding the essence of 'religious language' and the term correlation with its linguistic variants; the place of the analysis of a conversation about religion within the broader linguistic structure, etc. The paper provides a detailed examination of diverse interpretative frameworks for 'theolinguistics' and scrutinizes its definition from both linguistic and theological viewpoints. The paper offers a cogent elucidation of the indissoluble bond between language and religion, charting the significance of theolinguistics in both its historical and present-day contexts. The research emphasizes the practical significance of integrating research methodologies, where linguistic inquiry aids in ascertaining text origin and ensuring precise content interpretation, while theological insights furnish suitable religious commentary.
