Suicides: the ratio of men and women

Based on the analysis of the literature data, the ratio of men and women among persons who committed suicide in certain territories of the Russia was evaluated. It is shown that in most regions the number of men killed is 4-5 times more than women. In the Russia as a whole, the ratio оf Male: Female is 4.8: 1. These figures are comparable to 1870-1874, when the ratio M: F was 4.5: 1. Currently, the prevalence of men among suicides is not related to territorial, national or ethnic factors. In some territories, there has been a significant decline in the proportion of women, possibly due to lack of accounting. In conclusion, the authors conclude that additional research is needed.
