Article is devoted to the issue of the forming influence of a genre invariant of a parable on the modern novel’s structure. “Chorus” by M. Paley contains a number of parable’s features: instructive position of the author, sketchiness of delineation of characters, the situation of the choice as the most significant point of a plot etc. However along with it there is “demolition” of a parable’s paradigm in the novel: the hero doing right things faces the negative final. The system of such attractions and differences is considered as a transmission medium of the author's belief forming “instructive” pathos of the parable novel: it is necessary to look for getting out of total isolation of human existence; possible way of searching of Other is comprehension by means of creativity.
