Iron man in phraseology and sports on the pages of "Sport Express" edition

The article deals with the functioning of the idiom “iron man” relating to the phraseology of contemporary publicistic discourse. The research is conducted on the publications of the electronic edition “Sport Express” as special texts about professional sports in the mass media. With the help of lexicographical sources, the phraseological potential of the words forming this idiom is established, their relation to the semantic matches in the English language as an international mediator of the international cross-cultural meaning of the idiom “iron man” in texts about professional sports. The dynamics of a phraseological value as a qualitative and quantitative characteristic of a professional sportsman is clearly observed in the article.
