The life “under the heel of madness”: the genre of fairy tale in the works of I.S. Shmelev and M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin

The experience of M.E. Saltykov-Shchedrin is implicitly present in the heritage of I.S. Shmelev in the form of quotations, allusions and reminiscences. The searches of the ways of the tussle with evil and the reliance on the national moral values drew together the different writers, having made actual the genre of fairy tales in their works, filling the requirements of the recovery and education of civic feelings and the influence on the young generation and the masses at large.
