Life strategies of youth in modern sociological discourse and mass communication

Sociological discourse, like any other scientific discourse, has a significant impact on the information field, shaping perceptions of the world in mass communication. The article outlines the main directions of development of modern sociological discourse in the field of research on life strategies of the youth. Comparison of Russian and foreign discourses was carried out, as a result of which differences were revealed in the language of describing the life strategies of youth, as well as in indicating the relationship between a young person and society while implementing these strategies. While Russian-speaking authors focus more often on the passivity of youth, English-speaking authors emphasize society's systematic failures in supporting the implementation of a life strategy. The identified differences should be taken into account when perceiving the information replicated in the media about the state of youth public consciousness in Russia and abroad.
