The relevance of the chosen research subject is supported by the demands of the modern education system to deliver highly qualified professionals. The expertise of a teacher of sports is analyzed as a complex multi-faceted phenomenon, a significant component of the sports teacher's professional competence. The Research Problem is defined by the authors as "What is the significance of social and educational cycle disciplines in developing professional competencies of a teacher of sports?" The Goal of the Research is to determine the role of psychological and educational cycle disciplines in developing teaching expertise among higher education students of physical culture and sports. Research Methods and Organization. The research employed an analysis of scientific literature, polling and mathematical statistics methods. The research involved 2nd year in-person students of the 49.04.01 "Sports" field, and 3rd year in-person students of the 49.03.01 "Physical Culture" field. The research analyzed study programs in the 49.04.01 "Sports" and 49.03.01 "Physical Culture" fields, and assessed the students' teaching expertise development level using a teaching expertise level discovery method. Conclusion. The in-depth analysis of study programs in the 49.04.01 "Sports" and 49.03.01 "Physical Culture" fields has substantiated the significance of psychological and educational cycle disciplines in training physical culture and sports specialists that satisfy modern professional standards. The 49.04.01 "Sports" teaching expertise development level has been deemed acceptable with >0.5 among 76.92% respondents, while among 23.08% it's been defined as below acceptable at 0.5 among 75% respondents, while 25% defined it as below acceptable at function show_eabstract() { $('#eabstract1').hide(); $('#eabstract2').show(); $('#eabstract_expand').hide(); }
