In this article, the author analyzes the value of the constitutional right to freedom of speech for the development of civil society and the rule of law, the relationship of the right to freedom of speech with other rights and freedoms - the right to freedom of assembly, the right to freedom of association, the right to freedom of creativity and teaching. In the scientific article, the author assesses the impact of constitutional freedom of speech on the realization of human and civil rights and freedoms, examines the positions of the European Court of Human Rights related to the protection of the right to freedom of speech, the law enforcement practice of the US Supreme Court in the area of protecting the right to freedom of speech, constitutional guarantees of freedom speech in the Russian Federation, and also dwells on the issue of the limits of freedom of speech in the modern world.
