The author aims to actualize ecclesiastical art in contemporary Russian culture due to the revival of ecclesiastical embroidery and the return of liturgical fabrics to churches. The research aims to study the impact of arts and crafts on the ecclesiastical embroidery in the Ural region covents in the second half of the 19th century. The author focuses on a poorly studied piece of ecclesiastical embroidery, which is kept in the Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Kasli. The research is based on a comprehensive approach to investigating the liturgical and symbolic purpose of the shroud and its role in the Orthodox Church decoration. The shroud is considered as one of the types of church art and its differences from other objects of church art are revealed. The features of ornamental embroidery are considered. The research results in the scientific introduction of the first published monument of gold embroidery art, which can become a pillar for studying the work of individual monastic art workshops of the Ural region in the second half of the 19 th century.
