Zoohygienic conditions for fattening pigs on factory farms

The work on the study of hygienic microclimate parameters was held in pig fattening industrial houses. Investigations were carried out on the basis of a large pig farm in the Middle Urals. For studying of microclimate indicators available hygienic methods, devices and electronic analyzers were used. The given work deals with the questions of pig growing technology on an industrial farm: the location of pig houses, feeding, water providing, schedule and work with pig population. Investigations were conducted on three age groups of pigs. Zoohygienic microclimate parameters in pig fattening houses were within acceptable limits. Temperature conditions ranged within 18-22°C. Relative humidity did not exceed 75%. The rate of air movement, microbial contamination and dust pollution was within normal range. The concentration of harmful gases of ammonia and carbon dioxide was observed within the upper acceptable values. Satisfactory conditions of pig housing and efficient feeding technology had a positive impact on health, resistance and development of animals. Physiological parameters for fattening pigs were within acceptable limits. The company is carrying out the planned economic indicators for obtaining productivity and safety of the animals - average daily gain of body weight was 935 g, safety 97.3%. Among the non-contagious diseases the lesions of mucous membranes of gastrointestinal tract were observed, which is, in our opinion, the result of negative impact caused by dry food-granulates feeding. In this connection, proposals to optimize the technology of pig fattening have been developed. In particular, it was proposed to develop a short cut of dry feed feeding, which would have no adverse effect on the digestive system. To control the operation of computer systems, in our opinion, it is necessary to conduct measurements of microclimate parameters conventional in zoohygienic methods.
