Traditionally a zoomorphic code performs a function of an expressive and evaluative literary technique. In his book “The Prose of the Poet” Nikolai Aseev, reflecting upon large-scale changes of the controversial post-revolutionary period, frequently uses animalistic associations and develops a system of ideas and images according to the predominant principle of organic metaphorical transfer. Analyzing the cyclic structure of the book the author of the article notes that N. Aseev’s regular use of the conceptual sphere “animal life” becomes a significant binding factor that helps to provide a meta-semantic unity of the book.
