The sound in the space of culture: objective and subjective parameters

The object of study of this work is the essential meaning of the concept of “sound”, which is viewed from the perspective of the various spheres of human culture: natural sciences (acoustics and psychoacoustics), arts, spiritual and religious traditions. The subject of study of this work are contradictions or duality in the definitions of the concepts in the above areas, in the light of which the sound at the same time appears as the objective and the subjective, phenomenal and noumenal, real and transcendental phenomenon. On this basis comes the task of finding a single substantial foundations of sound, which is its vibratory nature, variously disclosed in the various spheres of cultural life, in accordance with certain sound features (ontological, epistemological, aesthetic, representational, communicative, praxeological). The research methodology is based on identifying contradictions in the interpretation of the concept “sound” in various spheres of culture, on method the comparative analysis, method to identify significant bases of object and abstraction from the particulars and try to give a single definition of “sound”. The main result is the construction of a single pattern of comprehension of the concept of “sound” in various spheres of culture, mapping interpretations and the identification of contradictions and the attempt to give a single universal definition of the sound.
