Academic dishonesty as pseudo-adaptive behavior of university students

The article is devoted to the problem of academic dishonesty of students. The article substantiates the idea that academic dishonesty on the part of students is a symptom of pseudo - adaptive behavior, when pedagogical requirements are in conflict with personal intentions, goals, opportunities or cause internal rejection on the part of students. As a result of the analysis of the survey data of students of Buryat state University (n=230 people), the most common reasons that encourage students to academic dishonesty (plagiarism, cheating) are identified: problems with understanding of educational material; lack of interest in educational material, course; a large amount of educational material/tasks and lack of time for preparation. It is indicated that solving the problem of academic dishonesty requires complex measures. External control and punishment are not always effective measures to prevent academic dishonesty. It is proposed to focus on improving the pedagogical management of educational activities of students and education of responsible, conscientious attitude of students to educational and professional activities. The article deals with the problem of academic dishonesty of university students.
