Aesthetic evaluation of ugliness and disgust in the postmodernism art practices

This article examines the impact of ugly and disgusting on the aesthetic value of art practices. Outlines the differences ugly and disgusting and lists the main types of disgust. Define the boundaries of the aesthetic area in art practices using ugly and disgust. Describes the characteristics of the representation disgust in classical art and art practices of postmodernism. The author considers the possibility of aesthetic evaluation of those art practices that use ugly and disgusting to influence the recipient. The disgust is considered as a reaction that crushed of aesthetic judgment. The situation of artistic representation and aesthetic point of view, considered as means of suspension that reaction of disgust in favor to aesthetic perception of disgusting object. In the end of this article the author draws conclusions about the manifestation of the disgust in art practices and the means to overcome this reaction in the “contemporary art”. It refers to the contemporary situation of dispersal and indeterminate boundaries of artistic and creative activities.
