Updating the Federal state educational standard in the field of tourism, taking into account the requirements of professional standards

It reveals approaches to the development of Federal State Educational Standards (FSES) in the field of tourism with the requirements of the promulgated professional standards. The article considers the current state of the education system in the Russian Federation. It includes the main legal documents on updating FSES, professional standards. Authors characterize the participants in the process of updating FSES, the employers’ role in applying FSES taking into account the accepted professional standards to enhance the employability of graduates in tourism industry. The articles reveals the principles of intensive training of competent personnel that contribute to introduce students in the process of mastering the educational program for creativity, for making informed decisions based on qualification characteristics of the graduate. It allows further using the received knowledge and practical skills in specific occupations.
