Topical issues of motivation of young people, who were born in after 1985 (Generation Y), to employment and career in hotel business, are discussed. The characteristic features of Generation Y are analyzed for their compliance with the requirements of the hoteliers. The main needs of Generation Y are indicated. It is noted that it is necessary to form students motivation to finding a job in their profession from the moment they enter the higher educational institution, by recreating the «hotel environment» in it and building close cooperation with hotel market managers. In order to form and maintain the professional motivation of students the expediency of organizing practice at hotel enterprises from the first academic year is emphasized and a significant extension of its terms is proposed
