The article is devoted to the topical issues of teaching a foreign language in postgraduate study at a non-linguistic (medical) university. The aim of the work is to generalize and comprehend the topical issues of teaching a foreign language in postgraduate school. The authors consider the main problems in teaching postgraduate students a foreign language and ways to solve them, point out the importance of close tripartite cooperation "graduate student - foreign language teacher - scientific supervisor", pay attention to the correct organization of independent work, hope that the considered ways to overcome difficulties in teaching a foreign language in graduate school are a step towards solving the problems of implementing the requirements formulated in the FSES+.
