Relationship between radiation doses and frequency of chromosome aberrations in irradiated human blood lymphocytes and Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) was investigated. Chromosome aberrations were analyzed in cells collected at first mitosis following exposure in vitro to g-rays of 60Co, accelerated 73 MeV protons and 14 MeV neutrons. After irradiation with g-rays of 60Co and 14 MeV neutrons survival of CHO cells was estimated by the colony formation assay. Regression coefficients of dose response curves and corresponding values of relative biological effectiveness were estimated by statistical analysis using obtained data in the form of chromosome aberration frequency and cell survival. Investigated regularities of chromosome aberrations induction in human blood lymphocytes can be used not only for cytogenetic bioldosimetry but also for estimation of individual radiation sensitivity of lymphocytes and investigation of radiation-induced chromosomal instability in humane genome.
