The analysis of research approaches to studying the psychological representation of university educational environment by students

University educational environment has a determining impact on the personal development of a student. The perception of the environment by students affects the thinking processes, the successful acquisition of professional knowledge, the social adaptation and self-fulfillment of young people. The purpose of the paper is to analyze the modern approaches to studying the perception of educational environment by university students. The author identifies that the main approaches are based on the psychological characteristics of the objective spatial components typical for the environment and the determinants of emotional well-being, safety and security of a person being at a university, including the role of reference groups. The paper reveals that the quantitative research methods are mainly used to present qualitative findings describing the relationship between the personality and the environment. The focus is placed on modeling techniques, in particular vector models applied for spatial demonstration of the relations of students with different environmental components. The research discusses the correlation between the experience of favorable environment and the terms of access to information resources and technology.
