Analysis of the experience of the A. Bobrov sanatorium as one of the first institutions of therapeutic pedagogy in the southern Russia in the early XX century: historical aspect

The paper is based on comparative-historical, juxtapa-rative and historical analysis of the documents, historical and pedagogical literature, generalization of pedagogical facts and phenomena. The work of the Republic of Crimea (Tavricheskaya Province) which was given the status of children’s sanatorium at the beginning of the 20th century by doctor-humanists A.A. Bobrov and P.V. Izergin is exposed. The author emphasises the integration of the therapeutic and pedagogical activities of P.V. Izergin’s work, the productive combination of therapeutic education of patients with climatotherapy and her predictive vision for the selection of necessarily health-care and pedagogical personnel. The importance of child-centred teaching and learning activities based on the didactic principles of ability, activity, learning with life, and the development of each child's talents, regardless of illness, is emphasised.
