Analysis of nutrition of young weightlifters

The article presents the results of a study aimed at determining the level of awareness of weightlifters aged 15-16 years in matters of rational nutrition and studying the nutritional characteristics of young athletes engaged in weightlifting. The study involved 18 young weightlifters. It is established that young weightlifters are insufficiently informed in matters of rational nutrition, their nutrition can not be called optimal. The diets of many young athletes contain insufficient amounts of dairy products, fish and fresh fruits, while the content of bakery, pasta, confectionery and sweet carbonated drinks is high. The majority of young weightlifters (72.2 %) do not follow the diet. The necessity of carrying out information and educational work with young weightlifters aimed at forming their ideas about the important role of alimentary factors in the process of training athletes, the principles of rational nutrition and the peculiarities of nutrition of weightlifters is noted.
