Analysis of the development of the genre and stylistic peculiarities of the folk German riddles

The article deals with the analysis of the content of the folk German riddles and the tendencies of the development of their genre and stylistic peculiarities. There are generalized the stylistic means and devices reflecting the picture of the transformation of riddles in folklore. There is concluded that the basis of a folk German riddle is an enlarged metaphor that all the grammatical, syntactical and phonetic aspects are subordinated to.
