In the hospitality industry, staff play a special role. Each hotel is interested in qualified staff who know their job. In order to keep employees, it is necessary to develop a motivational system designed for each employee and his needs. The emergence of the term “human resource” has largely changed the strategy of motivating staff. There was a need not only for material stimulation, but for non-material. This article discusses existing theories of motivation that are used in practice. The motivational systems at specific hotels are analyzed. As a hypothesis of the study, a check was put on the significance of the material side of motivation and its transformation with the age of hotel employees. The main motivation factors and the importance of “bonus rewards” are presented. Examples of existing motivation systems in chain and non-chain hotels are described. A survey was also conducted, the results of which showed the difference between theoretical data and practice.
