There is a deficiency of fodder protein in national fodder production. The search for new sources of high-protein fodders and study of their feedingadvantagesof the organization of scientifically based and balanced feeding of animals is a currently important strategic task. The analysis of the available works of national scientists on the crop yield of barley is made by the authors. The tendencies of changes in selection range of barley are considered according to the volume of sown seeds in the Vologda Region. The results of the authors’ own researches are given in the article.
