The analysis of territorial placement of sunflower production in the Krasnodar region

The retrospective analysis of sunflower production in the Krasnodar region revealed that from 1965 to 2011 the cultivation areas under this crop has increased by 19 %, the yield growth has been about 0,6 t/ha therefore in 2011 the bulk yield of oilseed was about 1 million tons. The territorial placement of sunflower production in the region is generally concentrated in the central and northern zones (more than 80 % of the regional bulk yield of oilseed). By means of rating evaluation it was confirmed that the increase of overall crop production should be provided not at the expense of expansion of cultivation areas (an extensive factor of production) but at the expense of yield growth (an intensive factor). It was established that along with growth of expenses for seed material for 1 ha, fertilizers for 1 ha and plant protection products for 1 ha, the yield level of total chosen regional farms increases on the average by 0.213 t/ha, 0.215 t/ha and 0.115 t/ha, respectively. The researches confirmed that the sunflower yield growth will provide steady development of oilseed production in the main agroclimatic zones of the Krasnodar region.
