The article aims at analyzing the means of stylistic syntax in a literary work. The research methods include observation, description, statistical analysis, structural-semantic analysis, structural-grammatical analysis, functional analysis, and the method of continuous sampling. The article’s material is the novel “The Messenger” by contemporary Australian author Markus Zusak. The results demonstrate that stylistic syntax is characterized by such rhetorical figures as epiphora, repetition, parallelism, anadiplosis, framing, and parcellation. The article provides a detailed description of the phenomenon of parcellation and its functions. Empirical analysis reveals that parcellation fulfills characterological functions (reflecting a character’s thought process), expressive-grammatical functions (clarification and specification), and emotional-emphatic functions (enhancing emotional impact).
