The article examines the research and teaching activities of Professor of the Imperial St. Petersburg University, Academician Vladimir Ivanovich Lamansky at the St. Petersburg Theological Academy from 1872 to 1897. Particular attention is paid to Lamansky's scientific leadership at the theological school. Specific facts show that the teaching of Church Slavonic and Slavic studies at the academy was largely associated with Lamansky's name. From the moment the Department of Russian Language and Slavic Dialects (later the Department of Russian and Church Slavonic Language and Russian Literature, the Department of Church Slavonic and Russian Languages with Paleography, the Department of the History of Russian Literature) was established at the capital's theological school and up until 1872, Vladimir Ivanovich's student at the university, A. S. Budilovich, taught there. Budilovich was replaced by Lamansky himself, and after his departure in 1897, by Lamansky's students at the academy, D. I. Abramovich and I. E. Evseev.
