Library professionology in the structure of the preparation of masters of library and information activities

The article is devoted to the actual problems of the theory and methodology of library and information education. The expediency of designing the personnel potential of the industry by means of pedagogical tools in accordance with the targets indicated in the draft professional standard “Specialist in library and information activities” is determined. The article presents a pedagogical system created at the Moscow State Institute of Culture, combining a practice-oriented approach and fundamental industry knowledge and implemented within the framework of the training area 51.04.06 - Library and Information activities (master’s degree program “Theory and methodology of information and analytical activities”). The orientation of the system to the formation of a systematic understanding of the library through an in-depth study of its individual elements through the theoretical tools of private library and information scientific disciplines is revealed. The effectiveness of the system is considered on the example of library professionology as a complex discipline. The expansion of its functions and the modernization of its content are shown.
