Literature of the Russian Diaspora in the XXI century constantly attracts the attention of researchers - historians, culturologists, literary critics. It contains a unique experience of survival in a foreign cultural space, the experience of fruitful intercultural communication, accumulated by Russian people, abandoned in different countries. Valery Pereleshin is one of the most significant poets of the “eastern branch” of emigration. In January 1953, he moved from China to Brazil, where he continued his poetic and translation work (both in Russian and in Portuguese). The article explores the poet's attitude to Brazil and the impact of his life path on poetic creativity, as well as other features of Pereleshin’s literary activity in the Brazilian period, researches the image of Brazil in his work, analyzes his literary innovation and the interaction of different literary traditions in his work. The study of V. Pereleshin's literary activity, based on the study of the events of the poet's biography, makes it possible to better understand how the tragic events of the 20th century refracted in personal experience, as well as to reveal the specifics of the author's consciousness and the peculiarities of his poetics. Analysis of V. Pereleshin's "Brazilian verses" does not allow us to conclude that there was a special "Brazilian text" in Russian literature; on the contrary, while in Brazil, he continued to create works that can be attributed to the "Chinese text".
