The relevance of the study is due to the public demand for axiological foundations of the upbringing of the younger generation in the spirit of traditional values that correspond to the historical and cultural moment, subject to their adaptation to the modern educational process in the context of solving the priority tasks of the Russian state. The purpose of this paper is to systematize V.V. Zenkovsky's philosophical and pedagogical views. The novelty of the research lies in highlighting the value-semantic guidelines of his pedagogical system: spiritual development as a priority of educational activities; education as a process of increasing spirituality; the hierarchical structure of the human person, the core of which is spirituality, etc. The results obtained during the study may be of practical interest for methodologists-developers of education programs, as well as for researchers of axiological paradigms of education and for students of pedagogical universities.
