Analysis of socio-economic, philosophical and psychological bases of competence-oriented education in the information society is presented in the article. The author reveals the essence of the notions «competence», «skills», the model of subject competence is given, built in accordance with the idea of anthropocentrism, the ideas of the concept of open organizational systems management and universal system regularities.
