Value orientations and behavioral practices as significant factors in self-preservation behavior of young people

The article presents the main results of the international study “Health of young students: a comparative analysis” that was carried out in 2011. A comparative analysis of self-assessments of the health of Russian and Polish young people was carried out. The values and lifestyle factors were identified, which determine specific differences between the health of young people in these countries. The influence of aspects of lifestyle such as physical activity, day regimen, attitude toward longevity on the state of health was considered. The authors propose recommendations aimed at improving young people’s health, prevention of harmful habits and improvement of other aspects of lifestyle.
