The article considers the nature of dialogical communication in the Slavophil environment on the basis of the correspondence of Y. F. Samarin and K. S. Aksakov. The subject of the analysis is a common worldview, ideological, aesthetic positions of the two leading figures of Slavophilism, and differences in the understanding of the tactics of the activities undertaken. Attention is drawn to the fact that in the positions of contemporaries, who were related by friendly relations, is manifested in the essence of the universal opposition of the «case», involving compromise («prudence», as Samarin wrote) - and an ethical attitude, asserting «rigor» (a concept close to Aksakov), which does not allow any deviation from ideological and religious principles. Special attention is paid to the personality of Samarin, not fully appreciated so far. His search for unity (or at least interaction) of theory and practice is unique in its own way and lays a certain basis for the life of the Slavophils of a later period.
