Digital Transformation of Education: Trends and Prospects for Development

Amid the accelerated proliferation of digital technologies, particularly within the educational sector, the modernization of professional training systems is gaining increasing relevance. This process affects not only infrastructural components, but also the technological foundations of workforce preparation. However, a significant gap remains in the availability of comprehensive methodological tools for assessing the digital transformation pro-cesses in educational institutions. Current strategic documents and development programs tend to emphasize quantitative indicators, that capture the extent of digitalization, while failing to adequately reflect the qualitative dimension of transformative changes occurring within the educational environment. This article offers an analysis of major domestic and international trends in the digital transformation of education, taking into account regulatory and policy frameworks. The study examines strategic directions for the development of the digital educational en-vironment, focusing on the integration of advanced digital technologies, the improvement of teacher professional development systems, and the adoption of blended and hybrid learning models. Both the positive and negative effects of digitalization on student motivation, accessibility, and educational quality are examined. The findings underscore the need to shift from formal, quantitatively driven metrics toward qualitative indicators that enable a more holistic and accurate assessment of digital transformation in the context of Russian education.
