Digital competencies of a higher education institution teacher within the framework of the education 4.0 concept

The modern era of Industry 4.0 has an impact on the functioning and development of education. With the advent of new technologies and process automation, the requirements for teacher qualifications are becoming increasingly higher. Traditional skills taught in the past are no longer as relevant. Now it is necessary to master the skills of working with future technologies, such as artificial intelligence, process automation, the Internet of things and others. Educational institutions must adapt to new labor market requirements when preparing personnel for the new economy. New challenges are being presented to teaching staff - the ability to work in a digital educational environment (digital competencies). Within pedagogical competencies, not only teaching and learning skills are important, but also the use of digital resources. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, educators were forced to urgently switch to distance learning, and these conditions showed that teachers’ digital skills are not sufficiently developed. Right now, measures are being taken to improve the quality of digital competence of teaching staff in higher education. The article examines the requirements for a modern university teacher in the context of digitalization of higher education. The research methods were comparative analysis, synthesis and a systematic approach to the features of the application of Education 4.0. The professional competencies of the teacher were analyzed in the context of the Education 4.0 concept. Of particular importance is the formation of such competencies that relate to professional activities in the digital environment and cover the ability to use digital learning formats.
