The examination of motivational and psychological readiness for getting an emergency-related professional education

The paper deals with the development of sustainable motivation and psychological readiness of students studying at the educational institutions of the Russian Emergency Ministry to act in an emergency. The research presents the author’s definition of the psychological and motivational readiness, describes forms, types, and components of readiness for professional activity in an emergency, a prerequisite for its development. The relevance of the study is determined by the need to compare the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard for professional skills of the graduates with the real-world requirements for professional activity of the agents of the Russian Emergency Ministry. The paper describes the overall results of examination based on the innovative project which is to implement the continuous system of psychological and educational support for developing sustainable motivation and psychological readiness for a service at the Russian Emergency Ministry. The authors reveal the technology and the results of the first stage of program implementation (the diagnostic and motivational one) which defines the level of motivation as well as the degree of development of intellectual and mnestic, emotional and personal, motivational and volitional, psychological and physiological aspects of students’ life. The objectives of the next stage of the survey, i.e. the motivational and underlying one, are noted.
