Universal competence assessment in English language communication for law students

Universal competencies, which contain generalized characteristics of educational and professional activities, are gradually being introduced into Russian educational programs. The problem of formation of universal competencies of students in Russian universities and evaluation of their indicators is acute. The article examines the problem of selecting diagnostic tools to determine the formation of law students' universal competence in the category “Communication” (CC-4). A review of Russian methods for controlling the level of students' development of universal competencies has been conducted, and steps have been taken in modeling action results (competency descriptors) and creating a fund of assessment tools for testing each competency indicator at UdSU. Practical implementation of the technology is demonstrated by examples of learning tasks and exercises aimed at forming the universal competence CC-4. The prospects for further research activities on the development and adjustment of indicators and means of controlling the formation of universal competence (CC-4) in law students are outlined.
