The article discusses a group of diffuse emotive causatives in Russian and German. Emotions characterise speech of a person, therefore, it is impossible to imagine the study of a person as a linguistic personality without studying emotions. Emotions are an important part of a person and his activities, all cognitive processes are inextricably linked with emotions. Our focus is on emotive causatives, which are divided into two main groups: the group of positive and negative emotions, but we can also distinguish the class of emotive causatives of diffuse semantics. The latter is the subject of the present analysis, since it has its own functional and semantic features. The semantic principle is the main criterion that allows including a number of verbs into this class: actualization of a general causative meaning, without specifying the sphere of causation and the axiological sign. We called this group diffuse, because the tokens that make it up are able to express both positive and negative emotions in the sphere of causation. The verb acts as a causative communication operator. The meaning of the content of causation is implicit in the semantic potential of the noun. The causative verb in such structures undergoes desemantization, performing only grammatical functions.
