Discussion of the Latin language importance in the law students’ professional development

The paper pays special attention to the specifics of legal discourse in linguistics and jurisprudence in the formation of law students’ professional competencies. Examples of professionally oriented Latin language teaching based on the materials and terminology of the discipline of Roman law are given. Knowledge of catchphrases and sayings of Latin expressions, as legal formulas for law students, is a necessary professional activity in the international legal dialogue. The authors identify the important role of Latin in the formation of its application methods in speech practice and legal terminology. They pay great attention to the study of popular expressions, Latin lexical units and analyze individual aspects that reflect the historical development of law. The article clearly defines the features of both written and spoken language. The authors conducted research on the development of the modern law language, identified the main historical periods that influenced the formation of the professional law language.
