The article deals with an educational project of the applied master’s degree program «Translation for International Relations», considers its necessity, formulates theoretical foundations, defines educational principles, describes the contents and expected results. The program is developed in the context of the cognitive paradigm in Translation Studies and is based on anthropocentric, interdisciplinary, communicative principles and cognitive-discursive approach to understanding the essence of translation and its typology. Mind, thought, interpretation, cognition, coding, decoding, recoding are regarded as key notions of the project. It includes both theoretical and practical courses, research, production and pre-diploma practice which are important for the development of translator’s competences. The curriculum covers a course of professional communication in the first foreign language, which is English, and in the second foreign language, that may be French, Spanish or German. The program contains courses of written translation and consecutive interpretation in the field of international relations, as well as a course of simultaneous translation. Moreover, the syllabus presupposes the study of business protocol and professional ethics of translator, diplomatic discourse and translation of diplomatic documents, etc. The program is based on the competence approach in accordance with the updated federal standards of education, makes it possible to work out an individual trajectory of studies for a student, assumes academic mobility and obligatory training in the universities-partners in France and Spain.
