The wavelength of the electromagnetic field in the transmission lines

The electric power systems represent a set of devices for the production, conversion, transportation and consumption of electrical energy. Electric power transmission by power transmission lines (PTL) is ensured by an electromagnetic field. Therefore, to understand the physical nature of electric power transmission through power transmission lines, it is necessary to understand the nature of distribution of the electromagnetic field. The paper proposes the method of calculating the distribution of the electromagnetic field wave propagating along the transmission lines, for the fundamental and highest frequency of the harmonic component. It considers the main features of the calculation of the electromagnetic field wavelength propagating along the transmission lines. It shows the difference between the wavelengths propagating in a material medium and the wavelengths of the electromagnetic field propagating in a vacuum.
