The article is concerned with typological connections of the problems and poetics in A. Strindberg’s plays and A. Bely’s novel “Petersburg”. Two sense bearing points are revealed in the article: A God-seeking issue as the main problem field of the play “On the Way to Damascus”, which is represented in the character’s consciousness, and a “brain-play” issue of Andrey Bely as a realization of the game of consciousness and genre potential of the modernist novel.

Consciousness, "on the way to damascus", brain-play, petersburg
