The significance of implementation of spiritual values in the system of the Russian education on the basis of the comparison of the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 809, aimed at the national policy in education, and the pedagogical principles of A.S. Makarenko is analyzed. The urgency of spiritual and moral education in the modern educational system is considered. There is emphasized the integrated approach to the development of students’ personalities, where the humanist ideals and patriotic education occupy a central position.
