The article continues the theme started in other publications of the author, and is devoted to the peculiarities of the ideological design of the Nicholas reign, the use of the image of Peter I in the “scenario of power”, which reflected a return to national origins and met the objectives of strengthening imperial power after the events of December 14, 1825. The new approaches reflected the personal attitude of Nicholas I to Peter the Great as a role model. The article considers the formation of Grand Duke Nikolai Pavlovich’s ideas about Peter I, acquaintance with the life and work of the founder of the Russian Empire, including on the basis of documents, diaries, memoirs, museum objects. New trends in literature and art, the use of the image of Peter I in monuments, the preservation of memorable places associated with the emperor, the inclusion of Peter’s themes in the cultural life of Russia and in the design of palace interiors, as well as the creation of museum complexes (Petrovsky Hall, Petrovsky Gallery in the Winter Palace) are consistently analyzed.
